Elder Abuse Prevention Program Director
After obtaining a J.D. degree from the Seattle University School of Law (formerly University of Puget Sound), Sheryl has served as Senior Assistant County Counsel to the Washington County (Oregon) Counsel’s Office where she was responsible for labor and employment law matters, as well as the monitoring of internal investigations regarding employment issues; supervisory training; EEOC mediation and litigating labor arbitration and employment cases.More recently, Sheryl worked as a Clinic Staff Attorney at Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles, establishing and supervising the Conservatorship and Elder Abuse Clinic, a collaboration with the Los Angeles Superior Court. Sheryl’s current private law practice primarily focuses on conservatorships over the person and estate and elder abuse restraining orders.
Sheryl is involved with the Elder Abuse Task Force, a partnership with the Los Angeles Superior Court headed by Judge Aviva Bobb and crucial state agencies such as Bet Tzedek. She also participates in the KEEP-SAFE Coalition, a non-profit organization addressing financial elder abuse, along with volunteers from social services, law enforcement and financial institutions.
