WISE Senior Fraud Prevention Call Center

Every year, thousands of Americans lose as little as a few dollars to as much as their life savings to fraudulent telemarketers. According to Congress, the loss is nearly $40 billion each year.

We are all potential targets; fraud is not limited by race, ethnic background, gender or income. Elders, especially, are targeted by con artists who are selling bogus products and services by phone.

In cooperation with the AARP Foundation, volunteers gather at the WISE Senior Fraud Prevention Call Center in Santa Monica to contact people across the country who are at risk.

Fraud Fighter volunteers discuss current scams, offer tips on avoiding fraud and provide referrals to local agencies.

Through our nonprofit mission of helping elders, we have already reached thousands of consumers and they are grateful for the information.

We urgently need more volunteers to continue to spread the word and help people like your neighbors and friends, not become the con artists’ next victim. Join us in this most worthwhile community service!

Training, lunch, parking are provided. A commitment of three hours a week is needed.
