WISE & Healthy Aging / Santa Monica Dial-A-Ride Program

The Dial-a-Ride program offers transportation for any purpose (doctor's appointments,shopping,leisure or social activities) during set daytime hours seven days a week.

Service Schedule

Vans run Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The van services does not run on these holidays:
  • New Year's Day - January 1
  • Memorial Day - May 26, 2008
  • Independence Day - July 4
  • Labor Day - Sept. 1, 2008
  • Thanksgiving Day - Nov. 27, 2008
  • Christmas - December 25

Cost of a Trip

One-way fare for clients and a friend is 50-cents each. An additional 25-cents is charged if a personal attendant goes with the client.

Eligibility for Service

This service is only open to residents of Santa Monica. It is necessary to enroll in the program before calling for a ride. For information about enrolling, call (310) 394-9871, ext. 454 or email transportation@wiseandhealthyaging.org

Orientation and Mobility Class

To help newly enrolled clients make the most of the Dial-a-Ride program, a monthly orientation and mobility class is offered. The class focuses on transportation options. The class meets at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 4th St., Santa Monica, CA 90401.

The class is followed by a Senior ID Registry session and a Pedestrian Safety course.

Calling for a Ride

Reservations in advance are encouraged. All trips are scheduled on a first-call, first-served basis. After you receive your ID card, you may start using the service at any time by calling the Scheduling Dispatcher at (310) 394-9816.
