The WISE & Healthy Aging Volunteer University
Based on its many years of experience with volunteers, WISE & Healthy Aging has created Volunteer University. This makes available WISE & Healthy Aging's premier volunteer training program to agencies and organizations wishing to develop their own volunteer programs. Volunteer University is also open to individuals who wish to become outstanding and professional volunteers. The program is based on a university concept. It provides a core curriculum followed by training in specialized settings, populations and services. While much of our focus is on volunteers serving older adults, the training a model that can be adapted to diverse populations. Our university offers various curricula, ranging from two-hour classes to intensive 12-week courses. Content is for both generalists and specialists.Participants have the opportunity to earn certification for completing pre-determined curricula, and have the flexibility of choosing how much training they desire. Graduates will be prepared for the volunteer sector in such fields as service organizations, nursing facilities, hospitals, physician offices, health clinics and day care centers, among others.
